How To Choose A Jogging Stroller – Tips
Being an enthusiastic runner a jogging stroller is a must for me. I am so addicted to running I couldn’t imagine my little guy missing out while I am gone. He loves coming with me as much as I love running.
Now, everywhere I look I can find a jogging stroller close by due to it being so practical.
While I use mine for jogging many new Moms bought the jogging stroller for long walks and regular use.
I needed something that is light weight since I jog on some serious hilly paths and unpaved roads. For me the alloy frame was the only way to go especially with the weight of my little guy in front of me.
Bigger is better when it comes to wheel size on a jogging stroller.
My territory is pretty harsh so I bought the 20” size wheels with a fixed wheel in front but depending on your path you may only need a 12’. Although I wouldn’t go to the size of a 12” unless you only run or walk a couple of miles on a paved path.
Running with a jogging stroller, for me, means a fixed wheel is a must! Last thing I want is any extra moves the stroller wheel may make due to a bump or a rock throwing you of course can be dangerous and cause injury. Some people did purchase a hybrid wheel that can either be fixed or swivel, this is perfect for those parents needing to use the jogging stroller in a grocery store or off the jogging path.
A five-point safety harness is a must. Must admit on our first trip I stopped a few times to check whether my little guy was still safe. At one point he fall asleep but was grateful to see that the harness works well over bumps and turns. The padding was perfect since he falls asleep towards the end of our run.
Handles were a big concern for me since I am not high from the ground. The jogging stroller has adjustable handle bars that met my short needs. I found the height was comfortable whether going up or down a hill.
Nothing can slow you down more than an unhappy crying toddler in the seat. Make sure your precious bundle is warm or if it’s a hot day that the canopy covers their face.
